Student teachers at Nkuruma College learn how to support autism
Fifty student teachers training at Nkuruma College, Zanzibar, took part in an autism awareness session to prepare them for inclusive classrooms. The gathering reflected ZACSO's commitment to a Zanzibar where persons with autism are understood, accepted, supported and included in every part of society.
Training is one of the most powerful ways to change outcomes. When teachers, health workers and caregivers understand autism, children are identified earlier, supported better and included more fully in school and community life.
Student teachers at Nkuruma College learn how to support autism is part of a wider programme of awareness, early identification, therapy and intervention, inclusive education, family support, capacity building and community outreach led by ZACSO across the islands.
ZACSO extends its sincere gratitude to all partners, volunteers and community members whose support makes this work possible. Together we are building a more inclusive Zanzibar.
